"I loved my time at the Knight Center! I had the opportunity to travel around the country, go to SEJ conferences and connect with journalists and editors in the field. If anyone is interested in environmental journalism, MSU’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism is the place to go." |
Since earning my master’s in December 2002, I earned the Michigan United Conservation Clubs’ Ben East Award for Excellence in Conservation Journalism (2003) for my work on EJ Magazine. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I was the first student to win the award! For the past three-and-a-half years, I’ve been working for a division of HarperCollins Book Publishers as a children’s book editor. I love my job! Recently I edited and managed a book on intelligent design for children ages 8-12. If I hadn’t had the science writing/editing training from the Knight Center, I don’t think I could have done it. Currently, I’m writing a series of books for younger children on the environment. It’s all still in the works—can’t divulge the plans just yet! |
