Environmental Journalism TV
Students interested in producing a half-hour environmental documentary for WKAR (PBS) should contact Lou D'Aria or Jim Detjen at MSU’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.
This new class produces shows for a program called Environment. It teaches all aspects of production, including photography, editing, producing and writing. Students must commit to production schedules that can vary significantly - mornings, weekends, nights. Assignments may include some travel.
The program is led by D'Aria, a veteran photographer and producer.

In fall 2006 and spring 2007, students involved with Environment produced "Dying to be Heard," a documentary about MSU's ties to Rachel Carson's famous book, Silent Spring. The documentary is slated for broadcast on all Michigan PBS affiliates. The premier showing was on WKAR at 8 p.m. May 27, 2007, the 100th anniversary of Carson’s birth.
